Four killed, one injured in East Godavari electrocution accident

An electrocution incident in Tadiparru village in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh killed four and critically injured another person. The tragic accident occurred on Sunday, November 3, during a statue unveiling ceremony.
The event, organized at the unveiling of the statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud, took a devastating turn when four workers, identified as Veerraju, Nagendra, Manikanth, and Krishna, accidentally came into contact with a live electrical wire while putting up flex banners for the occasion. The jolt from the high-voltage wire proved fatal for all four men, while a fifth person suffered critical injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors are working tirelessly to stabilize his condition.
The accident attracted swift attention from state authorities. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound grief over the incident, stating, “It is heart-wrenching to lose four people in such an unexpected accident, and my heart goes out to the families of Veerraju, Nagendra, Manikantha, and Krishna. I am saddened that another person is fighting for his life in the hospital.”
The Chief Minister has directed local officials to ensure that the injured person receives the best possible medical care. He also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each of the families affected by the tragedy. Naidu added, “The government will stand by them and support them through this difficult time.”
The authorities are expected to conduct an investigation into the circumstances that led to the electrocution.
